You guessed it- more no chip clients

Another day, another no-chip!

I absolutely LOVE this tealish blue beauty by CND called “Hotsky to Tschotsky”. I was wearing it on my nails when I did these, the client was deciding between this and another similar color but seeing it on my nails already convinced her which color she wanted. How cool is that giant eyeball ring too??

OPI “Alpine Snow”

After I was done with my first client, one of my classmates wanted to change her nails. She filed off her previous polish so her acrylics wouldn’t be damaged, then I did a quick no-chip for her. She wanted all white since it was the weekend before the fourth of July (yes, I’m kinda behind on blogging about school! Sorry!).

More clients!

Before we learned anything else, we had to get our natural nail services down! So for a while, pretty much all of our class time was spent in the student salon. It’s a great experience; I was trying to do each service faster but even better than the last set I did- time is money and I might as well get speedy while I’m still in school.

Most of our clients have been to the school before so they know what to expect, but I always enjoy when they have positive comments about my speed or how much they like their nails. Even better when they go show my teachers and tell them of course!

OPI “Passion” and “Alpine Snow”

This client was working on growing her nails out, and getting regular gel manicures is a great way to do that and keep the nail strong. She didn’t want me to file them all to even lengths because of this, but still wanted a French manicure so I tried to give them the illusion of being closer in length by where the smile line was located, but you can still tell a couple are shorties. She liked that they still looked good and clean even being different lengths though.

 

No-chip Clients!!

As I think I said in my last post about school, I think one of the best parts of my school is that they actually run a student salon and get us lots of clients to get real world practice on before we go out into the salons looking for work. It helps build up our portfolios as well as the old mantra of practice makes perfect!

OPI “Thanks a Windmillion”

As many manis as I’ve done, I was still a little nervous with my first client- I’m used to doing the nails of people I know and am just generally comfortable around and know that they won’t tear me to shreds if I make a mistake! Luckily she was easy going, this was her first no chip actually! I could have gotten closer to the cuticles and maybe done a little more work on them, but it still turned out pretty nicely.

OPI “Gargantuan Green Grapes”

Next class day, my first client was a slightly older lady who had been getting no chips regularly for years, but she had never been to my school before. I assured her that she was in good hands, and she responded “Well I better be!” which made me laugh a little bit. She told me how her signature look she has always done was half one side of her pinky with a glitter accent. She wasn’t sure if she could do that here, but I convinced her it was totally no problem, and helped her pick a cute silver and white glitter that went well with the polish she chose which she said was totally out of her comfort zone of normally reds/pinks/purples. She was super happy in the end I could do her signature look for her (even if you can’t see it in the picture…)

 

I want to say the light pink is OPI “Bubblebath” but don’t quote me on that… and I don’t remember the darker pink’s name.

I was pretty excited when the second client of the day wanted something a little less plain. There’s nothing wrong with single color manicures; I just like adding more zing and colors! I also got to learn the proper way to apply loose dry glitter to the nail which was neat. By this time I was getting more comfortable cleaning up the cuticles so they look as nice as the nails.

Even more exciting news!

The last couple months have just been so busy! Kyle and I have started planning our wedding, which will have lots of diy that I will be sure to post about afterwards. And for the last month I have been in nail school! Finally!! I’m still so thrilled that I’m finally able to pursue my passion. I’m really enjoying school, we’ve been zipping through the basics, and I can’t wait to move on to artificial services and art.
