Lechat “Dream Chaser”

Another one of the the LeChat Mood Changing gel polishes- this one is “Dream Chaser”. I never had any problems with the other colors that I’ve tried from this brand, but this color was really thick and hard to keep from running. It also turned out really thick looking like I had done three or more coats when I one did two.

I also don’t pass up pretty much any opportunity to do an accent of Color Club Halo Hues “Harp On It” which is that gorgeous holographic silver on my ring finger.

Hello again team iPhone!

I had the Samsung Note 4 for years, but it was time to move on. For many reasons, I decided to go back to having an iPhone again. I’m pretty glad I did, and one of the main reasons is that camera is so, SO much better than the Note’s was!

Can you tell how much nicer this photo is from the ones in my last post? The old photos look so much more yellow, and this one also looks crisper. Super happy about this. Here I’ve got another no chip french manicure, using OPI “Alpine Snow” but switching it up for the pink and using “Bubblebath” instead of “Passion”. There’s only a tiny difference between the two, but “Bubblebath” is much more pink where as “Passion” is more of a peachy toned pink. Both are very transparent. The smile line is completely hand painted, and I didn’t even use any brushes to clean them up.

Unfortunately, I don’t remember what the names of these gel polishes were, but they were both from Essie. How gorgeous is this color combo though??

Now OPI’s “Are We There Yet?” is a borderline nude color, which if I haven’t confessed before I kind of loathe nude nails, but this color is peachy enough that I like it. It also has the most subtle goldish shimmer to it which takes it from kind of boring to classy.

Screen Shot 2016-07-31 at 4.30.50 PM Seeing as I follow a billion nail artists on Instagram I’ve noticed this mirror effect chrome powder trend going around. How could I pass this up?! I almost immediately ordered some to try out. I talked about it at school and all my teachers were just as excited to see how it worked so I brought it in for a demonstration once it arrived. Like it was meant to be, one of my teachers was already wearing a plain white no chip so she was my hand model.

I wasn’t sure if it would work since the mani was a couple days old, so I applied one thin layer of clear top coat, cured, and wiped the tacky layer off. Using the eyeshadow brush that came with the chrome powders I buffed the silver onto the nail. I tried to blow off the excess, but beware this stuff is kinda messy! Lots of hand washing involved after but totally worth it. Applied one more layer of clear top coat to seal the chrome in and finished off like any other gel polish mani. Make sure you use a top coat you don’t mind messing up, as it will leave some tiny little silver flakes in the topcoat that will transfer to every other color you use this topcoat on.

But I mean, mirror silver nails. How cool is that? I’ll have a dedicated chrome top coat to have mega-shiny nails!

LeChat Mood Changing “Lost Lagoon”

I’ve been doing a lot of manicures using LeChat Mood Changing gel polish lately, but that’s because it’s so friggin’ cool! The color change is dramatically noticeable in all the colors I own, and you can just watch your nail change right before your eyes.

When this polish is warm, it’s a pretty, soft seafoam green color. For this look I topped it with one coat of Finger Paints “Geodesic Dome We Rome” which is the little iridescent  blue glitters you see. And I can’t say no to some bling, so diamond accent nail it is.

Fun fact- these are the nails I was wearing when Kyle proposed! I knew it was coming, so I had to keep them looking good for a few weeks, I couldn’t have bad looking nails for ring pictures 😉

Bringing “Mani Monday” back!

Hello everyone!

I know I’ve been really absent lately, but I’m going to try to get back on track with blogging, and I need to catch up on posting all the nails I’ve been doing the last couple months! I’ve been loving doing no chip manicures, especially now that I know how to do proper cuticle care to make them look extra sharp. I’m going to use Mondays to catch up on all the nails that I have done up until now, and then I’ll try to make weekly school posts on what I’ve learned and the nails that I’ve done there.

School has been amazing so far. All of my 4 teachers are super knowledgeable and are very detailed in their lessons, and I have really been enjoying how hands on it is. We go through things super fast so I’m learning a lot already. We’ve already done all the basic manicure techniques, no chips, applying acrylic extensions using both tips and nail forms, and hard gel extensions (which are totally the hardest for me so far…).

So, to get caught up, here is a no chip manicure I did on Rhonda, using LeChat Mood Changing “Smokey Haute”-

I added a little bling with a pink flower, couple diamonds and silver caviar beads for an accent. This polish changes from a brownish mocha color to a light nude that you can see on the thumb!

Exciting news!

So much has happened lately, I know I haven’t posted in forever. March was such a busy month! The most exciting thing to happen though- Kyle proposed! I kind of knew it was coming, we had picked out the ring together and I knew he had it; so when he texted me while I was at work asking if I wanted to go out later that evening I was already excited with anticipation. Since I knew what the ring looked like I made him keep everything about how he was going to do it a secret.

I got home from work and put myself together and we were off. In the car, he told me he had wanted to take me to Los Burritos Tapatios where we had our second date for dinner, but unfortunately they don’t exist anymore. So we went to Casa Margarita instead to keep with the Mexican food theme! After dinner we got in the car and headed to another mystery destination. I only figured it out once we got pretty close! It was The Ashbary Coffee House, where we met face to face for the first time over 7 years ago (we met online for those that don’t know). I ordered a mocha milkshake and he got some coffee and we sat by the window chatting about memories from so many years ago. Eventually he pulled the cute little heart shaped blue box out, and asked if I would marry him. He knew the answer was yes!

We couldn’t have found a more perfect antique ring!

We took a quick photo outside the coffee house, and went home to relax. It was a lovely night and very “us”. Easily the happiest night of my life so far, I waited for that moment for so long! I’m so excited to be planning our wedding.

My coworker recently got married! She actually asked me to do her nails, and that ended up being more like her nails and 9 other bridesmaids/family members! Certainly the most nails I’ve done back to back, about 7 hours of work! She’s such a sweetheart though, how could I say no?

I didn’t take the time to get pictures of all their nails since all but one of the ladies just wanted plain french tips, but I did my nails to match the dress I wore and also to get a great picture to show off my ring!

I finally got to use these cute little 3D roses I had gotten in a bulk nail charm order, they’re kinda squishy which is cool. I surrounded them with rhinestones and silver caviar beads on the ring finger. Since the dress has roses on it I hand painted antique roses on the other fingers, and broke up the plain blue a little bit with some polka dots. Antique roses are super easy to paint but look so great!

The blue is a gel polish, but the roses are painted with regular nail polish. I used a gel top coat for maximum shine! I also put on acrylic extensions since my real nails are kind of a wreck right now… :/

Throwback Thursday: Pastel Posies

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Hope you all get to stuff yourselves past any reasonable point full of delicious food and spend some time with the people you love!

Tried my hand at putting some shorter claw nails on this time… Added glitter and flower stickers that reminded me of puff paint.

My first adventure into gel polish!

So I finally bought a gel lamp, and I’m super excited to dive into this new kind of nails! The cosmos were smiling on me when I went to buy my first gel polishes, Sally’s had ASP brand buy one get one free! So naturally I spent more than I should have, and came out with a haul of 6 ASP polishes and two Finger Paints that were on the clearance rack.

I definitely applied the polish too thick, and there were some chunky areas. Trial and error! I still love having nails that are dry instantly regardless.
