Funky Fingers “Fra-Gee-Lay” Swatch

Almost done with christmas posts, I swear! This is one of my favorite holiday polishes however, and needed to be swatched! Behold: Funky Fingers “Fra-Gee-Lay” (must be Italian haha)

frageelay

This polish is packed with little red, white and green glitters in a clear base. Keeping with all my other swatches, I only used two coats in this picture, though a third coat gives you pretty complete coverage with no plain nail showing in between! That’s the kind of polish I like! It is a little thick so you have to position your glitter pieces a little bit to get even coverage, but it isn’t too bad.

Funky Fingers “Son of a Nutcracker” Swatch

In my goal of swatching all the polishes I own, I started with Christmas polishes back in december. Here we have Funky Fingers “Son of a Nutcracker” which is an awesome multicolored glitter in a clear base. The glitters come in white, green, and two shades of pink making it a girlier christmas theme. I used two coats here, but there is no hope for 100% coverage so if you’re not a fan of being able to see the natural nail (as I am) you’ll want to use another color underneath. I know everyone is in to the cutout thing with being able to see plain nail in areas, but it just looks like you missed part of the nail to me!

Witchy Nails

Keeping in the Halloween spirit, I finally had some time to paint some simple nails! The moon and the spiderweb both glow in the dark, unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of them glowing. I actually mixed some black polish into a bottle of topcoat to get the translucent black on the ring finger. I also couldn’t believe that black crackle was still working, I’ve had it for years! The badass ring is from The Rogue and the Wolf which I highly suggest everyone check out! This is also the first time I’ve used a matte polish without covering it in a shiny topcoat, usually I think most matte polishes end up looking like a weird melted crayon on your nails, but I liked the contrast between the shiny spiderweb and the matte black background.

Glittery Talons

My Reel Big Fish Nails had grown out, and it was time for a fill. I’m getting better at applying acryics, these last about a week and a half without any lifting! I filed them down and filled them in, shortened a little and reshaped, and here’s the result:

All hand painted lines. I love this style that’s trending right now!

I finally bought my first “color changing” nail polish! This polish is supposed to change color outside, the sticker on the top shows a pretty drastic change from bright silver to an almost purplish dark charcoal grey. So far, it does start out bright silver, a holographic glitter, but either I haven’t had them in direct sunlight long enough, or the bottle lies. It kinda seemed to be a bit darker when I was outside earlier, but it wasn’t as noticeable as I had hoped.

Shown is three coats, with no topcoat used. It’s shiny enough you can get away with no topcoat, though I only did it today so I can’t tell you if that will affect chipping or not. I used this as the base for another design that I’ll be posting soon! I need to clean up AGAIN as I managed to stain my fingers, but it looks pretty damn neat. Stay tuned!

Boo!

Getting in the Halloween mood! Love these nail strips.

Midtown Mimosa and Glitter

I recently bought these two chunky looking glitter polishes from Funky Fingers, and couldn’t wait to try them out on their own! The yellow could have been brighter, but I didn’t put a base coat of while on first. Though it does look just like the name suggests, like a mimosa!

Pretty in Pink

My best friend had a pretty crappy day, so she came over and I tried to cheer her up with some drinks and a manicure. She picked out one of my new colors, Kleancolor’s “Love is in the Air” as well as one of the new goodies my boyfriend bought me- these little flowers in a log that you cut into slivers and put on the nail. I was pretty excited to try these new things.

I suggested some glitter on the accent nails as well, and added a diamond to make a design with the flowers.

Here’s what the flowers look like close up. These are pretty cool little things, they remind me of when I used to make Sculpey clay crafts, and you could make beads with designs in the same way.
