These nails remind me of the tan and red plaid scarves you see everyone wearing in the fall.

As I’m lucky enough to get two weeks of vacation time from work, last year we spent the entire week out in Seneca around Halloween. I had plenty of time to go all out on my nails, so the ghost, cat’s eyes and whiskers, RIP’s and tombstone outlines all glowed in the dark but I didn’t have a good enough camera to get them in the dark unfortunately.

Before the new year, I had gone to get acrylics and a no chip mani with my good friend Evelyn, so I already had these gorgeous glittery pearls to start with. But they eventually grew out, and I wasn’t ready to get rid of the pearl. I figured the best way would be to add an ombre from the top to hide the plain nail! I got this pretty blue/silver glitter for christmas from my boyfriend’s brother, wanted to try it out AND it goes great with my existing mani. Could not be more weather appropriate, the temperature is currently -12!

one of my coworkers was wearing this color, and when she told me that it was a funky fingers color i was very excited. i had to get it!
unfortunately, it goes on very thick and is hard to get smooth. maybe i just got a bad bottle? i’ve never had this problem with this brand. regardless i still think the color is great, it just pops. i wanted to do something different than usual, most of the time i do something more on the ring finger, but this time i’ve done something on every finger but.
after a couple coats of clear top coat they ended up looking pretty good, but there sure is a lot of polish on my nails. i did want a reason to use all the black rhinestones in my pack, and i love the contrast with the bright turquoise.

i had a formal party i was supposed to go to, but plans fell through unfortunately and my plan of matching my nails to my dress was ruined. i apologize for the really terrible picture quality, i didn’t get a picture with my boyfriend’s much better phone and i STILL (ughhh) haven’t found my camera charger.
i unfortunately took the picture when i had a minute’s break at work and as you can see the middle finger lost a couple gems, but oh well. can’t win em all haha. the dress i was going to wear was the same color blue, and had rhinestones covering the straps and all down the back which was a cut-out type deal, so i was trying to give the look of the open sides of the back and similar shaped rhinestones.
here’s a little better picture of the last intact nail. i really cannot wait to get a decent phone again with a decent camera. (if you’d like to help me out in this, head over to my etsy! use code “POLISHESNPROJECTS” for a 5% blog love discount, i’d be super grateful!)

i got a dotting tool for christmas, and i couldn’t wait to try it out! i shouldn’t have done black as the background color, maybe gold or something would have worked better.
you did bubbles of red, green, and silver and added some diamonds to add to it. i’ve noticed that the rhinestones i use off one sheet that are bigger turn cloudy after i put a top coat on, and these little ones i got in a different package don’t which looks much nicer… guess i’ll have to stick to those kind.
i used two coats of “for rhinestones only top coat” to try to keep them on a bit longer than a few hours this time.

visited my parents for an early christmas since they’ll be visiting my grandparents in georgia on actual christmas, and of course did my mom’s nails while i was there! i think this is going to become a regular thing when i go over there 🙂
she got me a dotting tool, a bunch of colors of glittery and metallic striping brushes, a big thing of rhinestones in different shapes and colors and a sheet of these little glittery dots that come in rows that she was hoping i would do on her nails because she thought they were cute. of course i was more than happy to oblige! i can’t wait to try out my dotting tool, i’ve been wanting one of those for quite a while.
i used some of the rhinestones too to make little holly berries and leaves on her thumbs which turned out super cute.

i apologize for the crappy picture quality (still using a phone til i find my camera charger *sigh*) and the pre-cleanup condition of my nails, but it got late and i just felt like going to bed. both of these polishes are new, and i have never really used gems or anything either so this was fun! i’ll post about the new polishes later, and get a better picture of them.
