Exciting news!

So much has happened lately, I know I haven’t posted in forever. March was such a busy month! The most exciting thing to happen though- Kyle proposed! I kind of knew it was coming, we had picked out the ring together and I knew he had it; so when he texted me while I was at work asking if I wanted to go out later that evening I was already excited with anticipation. Since I knew what the ring looked like I made him keep everything about how he was going to do it a secret.

I got home from work and put myself together and we were off. In the car, he told me he had wanted to take me to Los Burritos Tapatios where we had our second date for dinner, but unfortunately they don’t exist anymore. So we went to Casa Margarita instead to keep with the Mexican food theme! After dinner we got in the car and headed to another mystery destination. I only figured it out once we got pretty close! It was The Ashbary Coffee House, where we met face to face for the first time over 7 years ago (we met online for those that don’t know). I ordered a mocha milkshake and he got some coffee and we sat by the window chatting about memories from so many years ago. Eventually he pulled the cute little heart shaped blue box out, and asked if I would marry him. He knew the answer was yes!

We couldn’t have found a more perfect antique ring!

We took a quick photo outside the coffee house, and went home to relax. It was a lovely night and very “us”. Easily the happiest night of my life so far, I waited for that moment for so long! I’m so excited to be planning our wedding.

My coworker recently got married! She actually asked me to do her nails, and that ended up being more like her nails and 9 other bridesmaids/family members! Certainly the most nails I’ve done back to back, about 7 hours of work! She’s such a sweetheart though, how could I say no?

I didn’t take the time to get pictures of all their nails since all but one of the ladies just wanted plain french tips, but I did my nails to match the dress I wore and also to get a great picture to show off my ring!

I finally got to use these cute little 3D roses I had gotten in a bulk nail charm order, they’re kinda squishy which is cool. I surrounded them with rhinestones and silver caviar beads on the ring finger. Since the dress has roses on it I hand painted antique roses on the other fingers, and broke up the plain blue a little bit with some polka dots. Antique roses are super easy to paint but look so great!

The blue is a gel polish, but the roses are painted with regular nail polish. I used a gel top coat for maximum shine! I also put on acrylic extensions since my real nails are kind of a wreck right now… :/

Throwback Thursday: Fancy Red and Black Tips

Throwback to about a year ago, to the first time I gave myself a fill in. It didn’t turn out too badly! The shaping is a little chunky for my current preferences, but you learn as you go!

Shark Week Beach Nails

I don’t think I know a single person that doesn’t love shark week. Though I think it used to be way more informational than it is now, sharks are still badass. So in honor of this year’s shark week, and just because I’ve wanted to do pineapples and sharks for a while now, I came up with these super beachy nails!

The happy crab is probably my favorite nail, I can’t help but put smiley faces on things. To make the background for the crab and starfish nails I used a new technique I hadn’t tried yet- dropping nail polish into water like you’re starting a water marble, but then you spray it with hairspray to make it spread out in a kind of webby style, making it look like the foam on the top of waves on top of a blue/gold glitter ombre. I really like how it turned out, gonna have to try it for other looks.

Blue Swooshes

I had to prove to myself that I could successfully do that design, so I removed the remnants of the pink and started with blue. I had been wanting to use “Puppy Love” for a while, and “Blue Me Away!” happens to be a perfect color match if you don’t want to see naked nail through the glitter. I started with two coats of “Blue Me Away!” followed by only one coat of “Puppy Love”. That’s right, ONE coat. So much sparkle! Love it.

My Beautiful Polish Racks!

I have been thinking about displaying all of my polish for a long time, both to make it easier to find what I want and decide what color(s) I feel like using instead of digging through drawers and because it just looks awesome!

The left rack has my Funky Fingers, Forever 21, Pure Ice, Adventure Time, China Glaze, Black Heart, Nichole by OPI, and the single polishes I have.

The middle rack has my Sinful Colors, Kleancolor, and Salon Perfect and my only Essie.

The right rack has my Sally Hansens, L.A. Colors Art Deco, mini L.A. Colors, ELF, Ulta, Fresh Paint, Finger Paints, Wet N Wild, mini Kleancolors, Art Club, Sally Girl, mini China Glaze, and Covergirl.

To see a list of all the polishes I own, check out The Polish Collection link on the left.

I will also be working on swatching every color (and my goal is to not buy any new polish til I swatch and write about what I already have, we’ll see how long that lasts haha) and I will be having Swatch Saturdays and Sundays starting this weekend, where I post the swatch, bottle and review the polish!

Ready for St. Patrick’s Day!

So many things I wanted to try out. I got these nail strips from my local Five Below, and they definitely don’t work as well as the Sally Hansen nail strips. They’re more of a plastic sheet than a polish strip it feels like. The box says “Digits”.

Polishes Used:

Sinful Colors “24 Carat”
Sinful Colors “Snow Me White”
Funky Fingers “Pixy Dust”
L.A. Colors “Current”
Sally Hansen “Scale Up”
Salon Perfect “Kaboom”

Valentines Day Nails

A little late on posting these incredibly girly, incredibly pink nails, but oh well. I started out thinking I was just going to do a five color pink gradient, but then I started looking through my bin of nail goodies. I found so many hearts and these pink caviar beads I got for Christmas – I knew I had to use it all since I rarely use pink.

Polishes used:

Funky Fingers “Pop Artist”
Sinful Colors “Soul Mate”
Sinful Colors “Celia”
Adventure Time “Princess Bubblegum”
Forever 21 “Pink Pearl”
